Computers need to be secured

For those units who have received computer equipment from Civil Air Patrol, please be sure to take care with where the equipment is kept. Especially in the case of laptops, these items can be easily swiped.

If your unit has a permanent space where you meet, make sure computers are in a locked area or kept in a locked cabinet. Also make sure the serial numbers on this equipment matches what you have on your S-3 report.

There are specialty items that can be purchased to secure your equipment . One example found when doing a web search on computer anti-theft devices is www.securitykit.com. There are many others, but unit commanders and LGs need to develop a policy and resource use that will work for them.

Things to know about the Wing Listserv

Now that the new Ohio Wing email listserv is up and running, The IT department thought we would give you a few pointers that will help the folks in the field.

1. To make additions, changes, or deletions to the info on the email list, your information should be directed to Capt John Capicchioni. These changes may take a little time based on his schedule. Be patient.

2. When you receive an email from the listserv, do not respond to that email as it is coming from a listserv administrator. If you have a question regarding the subject of the email, send it to the referenced person in the email. You can also go to the Wing web site to access a list of staff members and their email addresses.
