To all Wing Directors,

Please take a moment and inspect the Ohio Wing Staff Page and make sure everything is up to date. If changes are needed Please email 1Lt. Gortney with the requested change. If you are adding a new staff member please include their email address in your email to me.

Also please take the time to inspect your departmental web page, please make sure all the links on the right side of the page are working. If they are not please let me know which links don't work and what you would like those links to display.

I will make the requested changes as quickly as time allows.

This is my first message as the Director of IT for Ohio Wing. It is my goal to continue to utilize the technology we have to improve communications and the dissemination of information to the entire Wing.

At this time we have two very useful ways to do this. We have the Wing Listserv, and the Wing web site. If a member is not receiving email from the Wing Listserv please send a request to 1Lt. Gortney, including in the request the email you want added to the listserv. The Listserv allows any member who is subscribed to the Listserv to send an email to the entire listserv by sending an email to only one email address. There are however some limitations to the Wing Listserv, one of them is you can not send a file attachment over 40KB in size. This limitation is set for a reason, sending large files via e-mail is not the perfered way to share files. If Wing Directors need to make sure a file has the widest possible distribution they can post the file to the Wing web site using Blogger. Please keep in mind that FOUO still must be followed when posting files to the Wing web site.

The Wing Web site is the easiest way to make sure important information is available to all the members in the Wing. Using the Blogger software is the easiest way to update the Wing web site. If you can use a Web based email program like hotmail or yahoo mail you can update your Department Web page. If you need access to your department Blog please email me and I will grant you the needed permissions to accomplish this.

I have included with this post a PowerPoint presentation showing how to post updates to the Wing website. Download and view this presentation to learn how to keep your department's web page update and current. The name of the file is BlogTraining.pps.
