OHWG Cadet Accepted to VMI

Ohio Wing,

I've just learned that C/Lt Grant Curell of the Wright-Patterson Composite Squadron (OH-037) has been accepted to the Virginia Military Institute. Congratulations Grant!

Please let me know when Ohio Wing cadets are recognized for their outstanding service to their community, state and nation so that I can share it with the rest of the wing.

Thank you!

Next CAC Meeting

Ohio Wing, please sure this reaches all applicable cadets.

The next Ohio Wing Cadet Advisory Council (CAC) meeting will take place during the Cadet Competition on 10Nov. It is planned to start at 1000hrs. The UOD is SS blues with weather appropriate additions. It is very important that as many Phase IV cadets participate as possible since the main objective of the meeting will be to plan the future of the Ohio Wing CAC and the Cadet Working Group... since I'm sure a lot of Phase IV cadets are doing their part to assist the Cadet Competition since it is a premier and critical wing cadet activity, the meeting should not cause too much of an inconvenience for them. Cadet Competition operations will take priority for competing cadets. Those cadets serving on competition staff that will be part of the CAC or Cadet Working Group will be allowed to participate in the meeting. C/Maj Buck, the chairperson, will be providing additional information in the coming weeks.

Thanks!

Encampment cadet staff training session - 8Dec

Ohio Wing,
Please ensure this message reaches all applicable cadets:

Ohio Wing cadets,

We are actively planning the 2008 summer encampment. It is going to be held at Wright State University & Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH from 20-28June (staff) / 21-28June (basics).
At this point we have the executive staff selected:
Commander - Major N. Shaffner
Deputy Commander - Lt Col T. Snell
Executive Officer - Maj S. Jones
Training Officer - Capt C. Metzger
Commandant of Cadets - Capt R. Goodreau

We are planning the first cadet staff training day for Saturday, 8 December from 0900 to 1600 at Wing Headquarters. If you are at least a Cadet Senior Airman and you are interested in serving as a staff member at the 2008 encampment you are expected to make every effort to attend this training. Understanding that you may not be available for encampment due to national cadet special activities or other events in your life, air on the side of conservatism and attend the training because it will benefit you not only as an encampment staff member but as a cadet in general. We are planning on teaching very specific skills that you will need as an officer and as a NCO. We are planning on conducting 4 or 5 training days prior to encampment. Proper staff training is essential to conducting a successful encampment. As such, cadets will be expected to attend 3 or 4 of these training days if they wish to be considered.

What you must do:
(1) Email me at: ohwgencampmentcoc@hotmail.com to let me know you will attend by 1Dec*. Include your name, grade and CAPID in the email. I will reply stating that I have received your email. If you do not get a reply, send again or contact me at: 937-286-8841.
(2) Come to the training on 8Dec. Uniform: Blues. Bring: CAPID, CAPF60, signed memo by your unit commander giving you permission to serve as staff at encampment.
*If you cannot attend the training on 8Dec but want to serve on staff, email me using the instructions above and let me know by 1Dec.

The 2008 encampment is going to be a great experience for everyone involved and we, the executive staff, are looking forward to working with each and every one of you to make that happen!

Thanks!

NCSA Slotting

Ohio Wing,

Attached are new guidelines regarding the slotting process for National Cadet Special Activities...

Some key take-away changes:
-Wing no longer rank orders cadets, we only determine the top 10% (green light cadets)
-Must have encampment credit during the time of application rather than before the NCSA starts

We are still planning on holding NCSA/Awards boards. Capt Chris Metzger is the project officer. The boards will be held at Wing HQ on Sat, 19Jan. The Ohio Wing goal is to have at least 50 cadets apply for NCSA so we can have at least 5 green light cadets...

More details regarding the boards will be coming out shortly. One requirement however is that if you want to meet the board you must submit your online NCSA application by 9 Jan if you wish to receive a wing board slot. Cadets that do not meet the board will not be considered for green light status. Please plan accordingly and get your application in ASAP.
