Second Chance Opportunity to Attend 2008 Cadet Officer School

Dear Squadron Commanders and Interested Cadet Officers,

Colonel Walling is the Director, Cadet Officer School. She has announced an exciting second chance opportunity for those interested in attending COS. Please keep in mind that time is of the essense so your quick action is needed to take advantage of this oppotunity to apply to COS. As a reminder, all applications for Special Activities need the Wing Commander's approval so please allow time for his review and approval.

From Colonel Wallings email:
"Dear all-

This year Cadet Officer School is in a unique situation. We have increased the number of seminars at COS and find we have a shortage of cadets. We know there are some cadets who for a variety of reasons did not meet the NCSA application deadline. If you have a cadet (or cadets) in your Wing who meet the requirements for attendance at COS, who did not apply, but who would like to attend the 2008 COS please send the cadet’s name and CAPID to Bobbie Tourville (BTOURVILLE@capnhq.gov) no later than 12:00 noon (Central) on Saturday, 10 May.

As a reminder, requirements to attend Cadet Officer School for 2008 are:

1. Must have a Mitchell Award at the time of application
2. Must be 16 years old by 16 June 2008

Registration for Cadet Officer School is $250, and we will pay the cost for travel for the cadets.

We will take 17 cadets. Selections will be made from the names submitted on Monday, 12 May.

Thanks very much for your help.

Regards,

KAY JOSLIN WALLING, Col, CAP
Director, Cadet Officer School"

REMINDER: Cadet Uniform Program

Dear Squadron Commanders,

This reminder was sent to me by National Headquarters. Please take a minute to review. If you have specific questions contact Cathy Pangallo at NHQ, she is available to help. You can reach Cathy at 877.227.9142 x263 or at cpangallo@cap.gov.

"We’re not seeing as many new cadets request uniforms as we expect. In case people are confused about the process, here’s a review on how cadets can obtain a blues uniform at no cost (while funds remain available). Please help by spreading the word to your squadron commanders.

Cadet joins CAP and obtains a CAPID.
Cadet logs-in to E-Services at www.capnhq.gov.
Cadet clicks “Cadet Uniform” from the menu on the left.
Cadet enters their clothing sizes, verifies their address, etc.
Squadron Commander approves (or denies) the cadet’s request in the Commander’s Corner at E-Services.
Lackland AFB ships the uniform to the cadet; expect it to arrive 2-3 weeks after NHQ sends the approvals to Lackland. (The status of uniform will show up on commanders report as "sent".)

Please note that the “old” paper uniform voucher is OBSOLETE.

Commanders and deputy commanders are authorized to input the request on behalf of the cadet.

This information is also attached to the cadet membership application (CAPF 15, Dec 06).

If anyone has any difficulties with this process, Cathy Pangallo at NHQ is available to help. You can reach Cathy at 877.227.9142 x263 or at cpangallo@cap.gov.

Thank you."

Best regards,
