ALL OHIO WING MISSION AND TRANSPORT MISSION PILOTS:
OHWG presently has three (3) C182T NAVIII G1000 Glass Cockpit aircraft. They are located at LCK (OH085), CAK (OH275), and I68 (OH244). In order to bring OHWG pilots up to speed with these C182T NAVIII G1000 Glass Cockpit aircraft, OHWG is providing for OHWG funded G1000 Transition Training. Missions 09-T-4781, MAR, and 09-T-4795, APR, are now open. Both missions are AFAM B missions.
Since the funds are limited, the requests for funded training shall be sent to Lt Col Henry Wearsch-OHWG/DO,email: hwearsch@ieee.org and Lt Col Walter Murphy-OHWG/DOV, email: for approval and record keeping. Approved requests will be sent to OHWG/DOF for F108 administration.
The criteria for participating in these training missions are:
a. Air sorties only
b. All instruction shall only be provided by OHWG G1000 Instructor Pilots/G1000 Check Pilots. A listing all OHWG Check/Instructor Pilots is attached.
c. C172 or C182 Mission pilots with FAA High Performance signoff and meeting CAPR 60-1 High Performance requirements.
d. C172 or C182 Transport Mission Pilots with FAA High performance signoff and meeting CAPR 60-1 High Performance requirements may be provided later if funds available.
e. Up to 6 hrs for the 6 OHWG scenarios, see Scenarios below, per authorized participating pilot. Unsuccessful performance in any scenario will not be reimbursed and must be repeated. The expense of the unsuccessful scenario will be the responsibility of the pilot.
f. The authorized participating pilot must successfully complete all 6 scenarios and the associated CAPFF5 in order to fly PIC in any OHWG C182 T NAV III G1000 aircraft.
g. Each authorized participating pilot is required to complete and submit a CAPF108 to OHWG/DOF, for reimbursement on or before the 5th of the following month.
h. OHWG Operations will approve, based on the above and FIFO, and manage the candidates for this training
i. All sorties will be entered through WMU with the correct mission number and B mission symbol.
j. B12, Profile 7, will be used for the scenarios and also used for the scenario sortie which culminates in the CAPF5 in the C182T NAVIII. The words €œG1000 Transition Training€ will be entered into the OBJECTIVE field, see example below.
k. G1000 Transition Training is expected to continue, depending on available funds, until all OHWG pilots have met the above requirements and desiring to complete the training.
OHWG G1000 Transition Training Scenarios
Glass Cockpit Transition Training of current C182 round gauge pilots using Cessna/CAP Scenario based training; 6 hrs /pilot maximum:
Scenario 1-3 (3hrs): Basic Glass Cockpit training including emergency procedures and instrumentation.
Scenario 4 (1hr): Use of G1000 SAREX capabilities
Scenario 5 (1hr): KAP140/G700 Autopilot differences and capabilities
Scenario 6 (1hr): Flight without auto-pilot and flight plan software utilizing only PFD and NAV as round gauge.
