Cadet David Rogers of the 4th Eagle Composite SQD has received a scholarship to Space Camp at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The Scholarship was awarded to him by the Eagle Squadron.
David was awarded the scholarship based on an oral report, his knowledge of the Cadet Program, and his overall enthusiasm of pursing a career as a Military Aviator. He was selected for the Scholarship by his fellow cadets, and senior members.
David selected the Aviation Challenge Mach III program offered at Space Camp. He will be in
a program that will give him the experience of the training that an Air Force Fighter Pilot would go through. He will learn flight physiology, and the effects of flight on the human body. A centrifuge will allow him to experience 3.1G forces. David will be taught land and water survival techniques, as well as escape and evasive procedures, that would be required by a downed aviator. A flight simulator of a F15 fighter jet is one of the activities that David is looking forward to. The simulator is used to teach training pilots on flight techniques, instrument training, and actual maneuvers required to "dog fight".
David is excited to attend the 5 day camp in July. He says he believes this experience will help him to follow his dream of being a fighter pilot, and hopes to bring back a lot of knowledge to pass on to his fellow Cadets that voted on him to partake in this "once in a life time" experience.
