With much thanks to C/LTC Tom Rehman, I am pleased to unveil the Group 4 BX on-line. Through the assistance of cafepress.com, we are now able to offer Group 4 stuff which can be ordered by units or individuals and shipped directly to you. The BX offers clothing and other items featuring the Group 4 shield. AND, coming soon, products featuring the shield of all four Group squadrons!
The best part is that profits from sales all go to support cadets participating in Wing, Region, and National CAP special activities. What better way to show your support and say “I’m with Group 4. Now go sit down until I need someone to shine my boots”. Ok, well, maybe you shouldn’t say it exactly that way. But Group 4 is a TEAM and what better way to show it!
The 2004 Initiative Cadet Field Competition will be held at the Ravenna Arsenal Training Area in Portage County, Ohio on 17-19 SEP. We will have a web site on-line with more details as soon as our training area has been assigned by the Army.
There will be space for 10, five-cadet teams. The Canadian Air Cadets already have two team slots spoken for. All units wishing to send a team should email Planning Officer C/LTC Tom Rehman immediately for the appropriate registration forms.
Additionally, cadets who want to be on staff should email C/Lt Col Rehman. Your emails will be forwarded to the Cadet Commander, C/Capt Elizabeth Morris, who is currently on FTX for the Army. Cadets are only eligible to serve on staff if they have previously staffed or competed at Initiative.
We are also in need of senior staff and judges. If you can assist, please contact the Operations Officer Lt Col Ken Voyticky KDVthree@aol.com upon receiving this email.
Looking forward to another great event!!
Sincerely,
LtCol Christopher L. Smith Commanding, Group 4, Ohio Wing Initiative IC
This is a well-done to the members of Group 4 who served on cadet staff at last week's National Cadet Competition:
C/Lt Col Thomas Rehman C/Lt Col Jeff Ingersoll C/SMSgt Steve Dembkowski
Of special note was C/Dembkowski's work as a cameraman, helping the National Headquarters video personnel. Several of his shots appeared in the final NCC video. Compliments were recieved for the work of each cadet staffer, and each was awarded a Commander's Commendation. Congratulations and good work!
In the continuing effort to build and nurture the cadet program, within both the wing and the group, I have been in discussions with both Lt Col Smith and C/Lt Col Jeff Ingersoll. I have recruited their support and permission and therefore, it is my pleasure to announce that coming in the next term of the CAC cycle, Group 4 will sport its very own CAC.
I have selected C/Lt Col Jeff Ingersoll for the duty of being the first Chair of the CAC. C/Lt Col Ingersoll currently represents the Group on the Wing Cadet Advisory Council and reports to myself on Wing issues. Additionally, he has staffed at many major events, the most recent of which are the Ohio Wing Cadet Conference and the National Cadet Competition. For his work at the National Cadet Competition, he received a Commanders' Commendation. He has also been selected for IACE with the United Kingdom.
I and C/Lt Col Ingersoll will work together upon his return from the UK to establish a new Operating Instruction on how the CAC is to be governed. The CAC will be of great assistance to myself and the Group Commander as we work on cadet-oriented activities at the group level, such as Initiative 2004.
With this being said, I would like to request that each squadron commander nominate to me one primary and one assistant representative to the Group CAC. This representative shall be different from your Wing representative unless you receive special dispensation from me; having things set up that way keeps more slots open for cadets to attend the CAC, improving leadership training.
I will require a signed CAPF2A to be hand-carried to the first meeting by each individual. Currently, I am looking at many different meeting locations; right now, the area of Cleveland where I am seems relatively centrally located and provides facilities. If you need assistance in completing the 2A, please feel free to email me.
I look forward to the contributions of the Group CAC to our Group, Wing, and program as a whole. Group 4 continues to lead the way with excellence in operations, aerospace education, and cadet programs, and this will be yet another step towards excellence. Please congratulate C/Lt Col Ingersoll on his appointment and get your nominations in to me by the 1st of August, 2004. The new CAC will sit on its first term and become official representatives on 22 Aug 2004, at which point the primary becomes authorized to wear a green shoulder cord.
My thanks to all of you, and I look forward to seeing the contributions of the new CAC.
Respectfully,
THOMAS A. REHMAN, C/Lt Col, CAP Director of Cadet Programs, Group 4 Headquarters TARehman@aol.com
