As you may know the CAPR 123 series was recently revised. One of the
changes involved annual refresher training. This email details the
various ways this can be accomplished. I urge all interested to take
the online course as it covers the changes to the CAPR 123 series in
depth. As you should be aware by
now, CAPR 123-1 paragraph 10e mandates that IGs at all levels are
required to complete annual refresher training. This training can
consist of an online course, teaching an IG Basic Course in
seminar/online or assisting with an IG Senior Course. In the last two
cases, you must contact Col Larry Stys (email address above) with proof
of your having conducted the training. If you take the online course,
eServices will automatically be updated showing completion of the
training.
The first of the online training modules is being
rolled out effective with this email. This first ‘course’ will be
available on line for approximately six months and covers all of the
changes that have recently occurred with the release of the new CAPR
123-series. In addition to yourself, please make sure that all of your
Assistant IGs are also aware of this requirement and they should follow
suit by completing the course as well.
1. Just sign into eServices as you normally would. 2. Find ‘Learning Management System’ on the left hand menu and click on it. 3. A course list will open….scroll down to Inspector General courses 4. Find and click on “Annual IG Refresher Training” 5.
You may get an ‘error message’ saying you are not enrolled in any
courses, but still go down to the IG Annual Refresher Course and click
on it. 6. There are 5 parts:
a. Intro and CAPR 123-1 (a course narrative, a document, a presentation, a quiz) b. CAPR 123-2 (Document, presentation, quiz) c. CAPR 123-3 (Document, presentation, quiz) d.
Download selective documents (download one document – when the second
is ready you will have an opportunity to come back into the course and
download it). e. Annual Refresher Course Survey
There
is a short survey at the end that I would appreciate your completing
(in fact, you have to complete it to get credit for the course) and
giving as much feedback as you can. If you encounter any problems, drop me a line and we’ll get a resolution. Ed Burns, Lt Col, CAPAss't Deputy CAP-IG for Training -- Lt Col Wayne Shanks, CAP Ohio Wing Inspector General |

Ohio Wing Members:
The Assistant IG for Training at NHQ asked
that this newsletter be distributed to all members by the Wing
Commanders. In it, you will find that there are major changes coming to
the IG program, including a re-writing of the CAPR 123 series.
For your reading pleasure...
R
Col Mathews
All,
This issue of the IG Audience
is significant. Several essential changes are taking place in the IG
program you need to know about. Important changes occur with approval
of the CAPR 123 series.
Most importantly, the need for efficiency means the COMPLIANCE INSPECTION
process will change beginning in 2013. Articles written by Col Ken
Parris, CAP Inspector General, and Col Steve Miller, Deputy CAP IG for
Inspections, explain these.
Please do not delete this. If you have a wing wide email distribution list, send it to all.
Thank you! Col Larry Stys, CAP

ALCON,
Due the requirements of class material preparation, the cut-off for this course is 6 April 2012.
This course cover both the Basic and Senior level. It is especially helpful to all Officers in understanding the SUI/SA process and allows members to better prepare for their unit inspections.
I encourage all Commanders and Unit Staff members to avail themselves of this course at the May PDO Weekend as it is only done on a Region basis and this one is close to home for everyone.
Thank you for your consideration and all you do for Ohio Wing.

---------- Forwarded message ----------
The on-line IGBC is still open. Please promote it in your wings. To all my IG Colleagues: I am offering the on-line IG Basic Course (IGBC) through BlackBoard and opening it up nationwide. Please forward this message to all your units. The course starts March 3 and will be open for three (3) weeks. There are no costs involved. The IGBC qualifies a member to serve as a "highly qualified" inspection team member, and/or begins his or her training as an Investigating Officer. There are 3 options: 1. Team Member course. This takes about 4 hours to complete and the member is then officially "highly qualified" as an inspector. 2. Investigating Officer course. This adds about 6-10 hours to the Team Member course. If taken separately, it would run about 8 to 12 hours because of overlap with the team member course. 3. Both -- total time varies from 10 to 15 hours and constitutes the complete IG Basic Course, which is the educational requirement for the IG Technician Rating. All portions of the course are on-line, so location doesn't matter. You download the lesson, study it off-line, take a quiz on-line and/or upload your written assignment, depending which lesson you are on. To register for the course, contact me directly -- sdig@abe.midco.net -- with this information: Name, CAPID, Wing, and (optionally) why you want to take the course. Class size is limited to 15. Priority will be given to SD Wing members (not many) with others accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, ties being broken by your reason for taking the course. I will be the instructor. I am a master rated IG and 50-year member of CAP. I taught this course twice last year. Lt Col Donald S. Barbalace, CAP South Dakota Wing Inspector General

All members:
I am pleased to announce that the Ohio Wing received an overall grade of "Successful" on our 2011 Compliance Inspection.
I would especially like to thank all of the Ohio Wing staff members for their hard work and congratulate them on their successes in the inspection.
I would also like to thank each and every member in the Ohio Wing who has successfully completed their job. It's the cumulative day-to-day efforts and hard work of Squadron, Group and Wing members that are reflected in a Wing inspection. This is truly a success for all of us.
So, congratulations and many thanks to all of you for helping Ohio Wing meet this milestone "Successfully".
Most gratefully,
Greg Mathews, Col, CAP Commander, Ohio Wing |
