Ohio Wing Encampment 2026 - A Foundational Leadership Experience

Ohio Wing is offering cadet training opportunities through Basic Encampment (a Foundational leadership experience for cadets who have completed Achievement 1) and Advanced Encampment (an expanded leadership and aerospace development opportunity for cadets who have previously completed basic encampment).

Basic Encampment

What is Basic Encampment? It is a week-long leadership and character development program designed for eligible cadets. To attend:

  • Complete Achievement 1 (Curry Achievement)
  • Adhere to CAP uniform and grooming standards
  • Be physically able to participate in scheduled training activities. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with CAP policy.

At basic encampment, you will:

  • Develop leadership skills
  • Learn about aviation, space and technology
  • Experience structured training, modeled on Air Force traditions — including precision drill and physical fitness development
  • Build confidence, discipline, and friendships that last a lifetime.

Encampment Advanced Training Flight

Encampment Advanced Training Flight is for cadets who have successfully completed Basic Encampment and are ready to expand their leadership knowledge and skills in specialized areas. We are offering two exciting opportunities for our Advanced Encampment students this year.

NCOLS — Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership School equips Cadets with the leadership skills and mindset required of effective Non-Commissioned Officers. The course emphasizes leadership fundamentals, decision-making, and the responsibility to care for, train, and develop junior Airmen. Cadets gain hands-on experience in communication, team-building, and conflict resolution. It includes advanced drill instruction focused on precision and correction of common errors. NCOLS prepares cadets to lead with professionalism, accountability, and adherence to standards.

Air Force On-the-Job Training students spend an intensive week embedded with multiple career fields at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Rotating daily through operational, acquisition, and Research and Development Air Force units, students gain insight into Air Force careers, leadership principles, and mission areas.

Encampment Fees Breakdown

The total encampment cost is $425 (approximately $60 per day). This fee includes:

  • Meals: 20 meals (accommodations for allergies and religious requirements are available).

  • Issued Items: Encampment T-shirt, hydration pack, commemorative coin, and student materials.

Financial Assistance

Help with encampment fees may be available for cadets who qualify. Eligible cadets may apply for financial assistance through the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Encampment Assistance Program (CEAP). Please refer to the official CEAP webpage for eligibility criteria and application deadlines.

Applications generally open in March for summer encampment and close 30 days prior to the start of encampment.

Encampment Curriculum

The purpose of the cadet encampment is to develop leadership skills, investigate the aerospace sciences and careers, develop a habit of regular exercise, and strengthen moral character. We aim to immerse cadets in the full challenges and opportunities of cadet life.

All encampment curriculum key resources, lesson plans, and supporting documents are available online.
